Here is an excerpt from the interview with Sujatha N, an Exceptional Teacher Trainer from Bangalore:

Q1. When and how did you start as a Teacher Trainer?

Ans. I started my career when I was a student. I began to teach small children and gradually increased the number of classes and students. I used to get many requests for Teacher Training classes from Teachers who were teaching Biology, English and Social Studies. So along with regular academic tuitions, I started to teach TCH and B.Ed students as well.

Q2. What skills are required to become a Teacher Trainer?

Ans. A good listener will always be a good teacher. If you listen, you will understand your students’ better and will be able to fulfil their requirements. Also being honest and dedication is required to become a great teacher.

Q3. What do you think makes you stand out from other Teacher Trainers on UrbanPro.com?

Ans. I am very honest, friendly, committed, professional and dynamic, Which motivates my students to learn these qualities. Also, I am a role model for many of my students. What else does a Tutor need more?

Q4. How you came across UrbanPro.com?

Ans. In January 2013, we relocated back to India for good. Since my kids were born and brought up in England, everything was new for them here. I had to quit my career (as all women ultimately do), for my family. That was the time when I thought that maybe like in the United Kingdom, here also there must be some agencies or platform where I can register and get students. I started searching in Google and came across UrbanPro (then ThinkVidya.com). I registered myself and started getting national and international students. I still get a lot of teaching opportunities from international students (from America and Europe).

Q5. What was the turning point in your career?

Ans. I was working as a Microbiologist. I have always been passionate about Teaching from an early age and when my passion turned out to be my profession, it was the turning point of my career. The opportunity to train other Trainers is like icing on the cake.

Q6. How UrbanPro.com platform helped you to expand your Teacher Training Classes?

Ans. It’s been an incredible journey with UrbanPro for the past 5 years. There was a time when like most of the women, I had to sacrifice my career for family. At that point, UrbanPro played a vital role in getting it back on a whole new track. Although I had 3 master degrees, I wasn’t able to utilise them. But today, because of UrbanPro I am proud of what I am! The platform has helped me to get many Teachers who were interested in taking up Teacher Training Classes.

Q7. What percentage of your work comes from UrbanPro.com?

Ans. 80% of my work comes from UrbanPro.
