Staying positive every single day of our lives sometimes become difficult. Our lives have become hectic, far too competitive, where we incessantly chase one dream after another. The fall out of that is we drain ourselves to that extent where we are left with very little energy to look at life positively. Having said that, I don’t mean we can’t be positive. Harboring a happy thought or having a positive disposition becomes easy when you put conscious effort to ward off negative thoughts and replace them with the positive ones. Buddha right said, ‘We are what we think.’ So it is very important that we think or develop a habit of harboring only positive thoughts. 1. Understand your thoughts: First of all, monitor your thoughts. What kind of thoughts mostly comes to your conscious mind? Whether it is anger, sadness, negative, or happy thoughts. Once you figure out your predominant thoughts, you will need to shift your thoughts if it is not positive. Sometimes our moods are an indicator of what we are doing and what actually we should be doing. When you think you are not doing what is right, you will tend to stay unhappy. So understand your thoughts and try to find solution for your negative thoughts. And slowly start thinking positively.
2. Negative monologues: Never indulge yourself in negative monologues. It is a sure way to waste your time and energy. In addition, your brain will develop a habit of doing negative self-talk every day. Even if you don’t like something about yourself, talk constructively to yourself. I am sure in a couple of days, you are sure to develop a more positive way to talk to yourself.
3. Ignore what others think about you: What people think about you should never be your concern. Anyway, people will think whatever they like and honestly you don’t have any control over that. Don’t waste your time and energy thinking what others will think about you. Do your best and do right and find your inner peace.
4. Read about people who overcame hardships: The internet is full of inspiring positive stories of people who have defeated obstacles and created success. I am sure when you read those, you will be able to start thinking how to make things better in your own life. It will surely shift your thoughts from negative to positive ones. It is people and their positive stories that have the power to influence your mind towards positive thinking. Feed your mind with positive stuffs.
5. Start your day on a positive note: When you wake up in the morning, look yourself at the mirror and smile, make this a habit. Waking up every day and looking at a happy you, will make you start your day on a positive note. This will help you to look at life with a broader and positive perspective.
6. Associate yourself with positive people: This is very important. When you befriend with positive people you will share their positive energy which will help you to become more positive. Beware there are people who love to talk only about failures and negativity. Those people are ones you should avoid because when you spend more time with such people you will grow unhappy.
7. Correct your mistakes: The core to one’s negative emotions predominantly lies within oneself. What’s inside reflects outside. So if you are particularly unhappy about a certain trait in you, make some efforts and change that. When you start changing what you don’t appreciate in yourself you start feeling good. And when you feel good about yourself, you will remain happy and positive.
