Even though the date on which Teacher’s day is observed in different countries is different, it holds the same meaning across the world. The day is celebrated to show the appreciation for teachers and their work and they are honored with awards and gifts.
The history behind India’s Teacher’s day is related to our second president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr Radhakrishnan who was a great teacher, academician and philosopher was born on September 5th 1988. The schools across India celebrate this day with lot of love and passion. Students show their gratitude towards their teachers by gifting them flowers, cake, pens, chocolates, books and several other small but meaningful items. This is their day to display their respect and love for their teachers.
We at Teacherji believe that this day is not restricted to teachers in schools, but it has wider meaning. It’s a bonding between Guru (teacher) and Shishya (learner) where age and field of knowledge doesn’t matter. You could be indebted towards your Dance teacher, your Yoga trainer or even motivational speaker. We celebrate this day with utmost joy and enthusiasm and salute the spirit of our teachers and trainers community from across the field.
Have a happy Teacher’s day 2010.
