Mohammed Alfan has nine years of teaching experience in all the Commerce subjects such as Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies and Computer Application. He has worked with giant software companies like IBM, TCS, Accenture and Cargill in Finance domain. He now works with Nucore Software Solutions, an IT firm in Kozhikode and also teaches Class 12 Commerce students.

Here is an excerpt from the interview with Mohammed Alfan.
Q1. When and how did you start as a Class 12 tutor?
Ans: My career started four years ago as a part-time tutor with two students at my home. Later, I discovered my passion for teaching as I developed a fondness for the profession while cherishing the experience. Also, the feedback from students and parents was highly encouraging. It motivated to such an extent that I decided to dedicate my life to teaching. Now, I have my coaching centre, ‘ZONE’.
Q2. What skills are required to become a Class 12 tutor?
Ans: One should be passionate about teaching. Also, striving to help students achieve their best, while also grooming their personality, should be given equal importance. According to me, the best skill a teacher should know and learn is how to present a topic or concept to students in an understandable manner.
Q3. What do you think makes you stand out from other Class 12 tutors on UrbanPro.com?
Ans: What makes me stand out from other Class 12 tutors on the UrbanPro platform is my easy-going nature. I think all students become comfortable with me as I teach them from the basics. I never compare them with others, nor do I pressurise them to study. They practice as they find the subject interesting. I try to motivate them to score better than how they performed the previous time.
Also, I follow the ‘peer teaching’ method. Here, a student teaches the subject to his/her friend. This approach induces confidence in children, and it helps them revise the concepts they have learnt. It also makes them thorough with the subject.
