Prior to the advent of allopathic treatments, the ancient world used cures from the nature. These treatments involved use of natural methods and products to go right into the root of the problem and alleviate the body of its imbalance. You can say that back then healing was an art. Today, some of these practices have made their journey through those ages to these modern times. They are still highly sort after compared to allopathic treatments. One of those alternative healing practices is Reiki.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (Ray-key: free passage of vital life force) is a Japanese touch healing technique in which the good healthy energy flows from the practitioner to the patient. The concept behind the healing is that the good energy from the universe transcends from the practitioner to the patient and the patient’s ailments are cured.
What exactly does Reiki healing involve?
Typically, during a Reiki therapy the practitioner places his/her hands on the problem areas of the patient’s body thereby inducing the healing process. The curing part happens because the patient’s energy balance is restored. Once this restoration occurs, the body can heal on its own, requiring no further external support.
What are the benefits on self?
Practicing Reiki on oneself has been found to be relaxing and detoxifying. It helps the energy flow smoothly throughout the body, thereby keeping your mind and body healthy. Other benefits are reduction in blood pressure, alleviation from asthma, chronic headaches, migraine, relieving pain in any part of the body, delaying the process of ageing, increase in vitality, emotional control and spiritual growth.
How can one learn Reiki and become a healer?
Only a Reiki grand master can teach Reiki techniques to a new learner. To reach the level of healer, one needs to undergo 5 levels of trainings. Each level is designated as level 1, 2, 3A,3B and Grandmastership. Every level has something new to offer with reference to learning the art of Reiki healing. Symbols, techniques and self-healing are part of every level.
Level 1: This is the basic level in the Reiki hierarchy. One can understand the functions, positions and effects of different chakras in the body. This level also enlightens the benefits of learning Reiki and its effect on self. The co-relation between chakras, diseases, auras and healing are explained in depth so that the learner knows exactly what he/she is about to learn. The level involves self-healing session. At this point, one would have touched just the tip of an iceberg.
Level 2: The learner actually begins his/her experiences with Reiki in this level. This level teaches the various healing symbols of Reiki that are drawn over a person’s aura prior to healing. Creating protective pyramid, distance healing, healing the past, present and future, floating healing intentions and the chakra colour therapy are some of the techniques one can learn as part of level 2.
Level 3A and 3B: Techniques intensify from here. Reiki Meditation and Reiki grid, healing others, psychic surgery and more power symbols are taught at this level. This is the final level of understanding Reiki and its techniques. It is here where you learn how to heal others and become a practitioner. Attunement for Level 1 &2 is taught at this level.
It is at this level one is initiated into another healing method called as crystal healing, which involves placing different crystals to corresponding chakras thereby inducing healing.
Grand mastership: After having completed the 3 levels of Reiki and having attuned or initiated several others into Reiki I and II levels, one is eligible for grandmastership. This is done after one year of practising healing on others.
