IELTS, is one of the most crucial entrance tests in foreign exam section. Out of the total 4 sections in IELTS, Reading section is something which takes a toll on students. Reading and Comprehension is considered one of the toughest sections in any exam. The key to score a 9 in this section is ‘regular reading’. If you are an avid reader, then this section is for you, as our reading speed increases with practice and vocabulary develops as well.
This strategy can work if you have a lot of time for preparation. In case of last minute IELTS takers, strategy needs to be different. As the aim here, is to score maximum in limited period of time.
New IELTS test takers find it difficult to manage their time, as we read a paragraph, go through questions and once we read it, we are back to the paragraph to find the answer, this way we end up reading the same content twice or thrice which is eventually detrimental in time based exam like IELTS.
We can try 2 way strategy:
a) Read a question first and then the content
b) Read a single paragraph and glance through questions, this way we are not only saving the reading time, but also skipping unnecessary information which is given and not questioned! In second strategy, we read a paragraph once, but end up answering every possible question hidden in single sentences!
To score a 9 in IELTS Reading test doesn’t require one to be a king of English language, test takers should be smart enough to let go the information which is extra and not process the content in the brain which are not required!
The above strategies can be used to crack the Reading section of not only IELTS but also in exams like GRE, SAT etc.
