Till last year, different states in the country used to hold their separate Dental Entrance Examinations but lately the system has been centralized and a common dental examination is held throughout the country. The selected candidates are offered admissions as per their merit positions and preferences.
To appear in the dental examination, a candidate needs to secure a minimum of 50% in the PCB combination in their Senior Secondary Examination.
Ensure that the college to which you are seeking admission is recognized by Dental Council of India.

While Government Dental Colleges offer the 6th Pay Commission Scales as approved for government employees, private practitioners can ideally earn between 30,000 to 1Lakh per month varying on the surgery and the experience of the dental surgeon.
Future Scope/ Scope in India
After completing a successful dental degree at Bachelors or Masters Level, you can seek employment in dental departments in various hospitals and clinics. You can alternatively choose to work in an exclusive dental clinic.
You can also work as an advisory with any pharmaceutical company. There are numerous opportunities in companies which produce dental care products. You can also pursue a career in Teaching, after completing a master’s course in dental science. There are numerous teaching opportunities existing in various dental colleges throughout the country.
