Inadequate preparation

While running an event it is sure one or the other things might go wrong. Often event planners do mistake by not getting ready for some unforeseen issues that might come up. Organizing an event requires a lot of planning, scheduling and foresight. Event planners should identify any problems or risks beforehand to prepare for them in advance.

Under-staffed

An event requires a good number of staffs to attend the guests. Running a show with less staff is a sure way to prepare for a disaster. It is always advisable to check with the staffs and if possible hire few more extra helping hands, to run an event smoothly.

Not keeping track with event changes

Well, even if you have planned an event it won’t turn out the same. There would be more challenges as the event progresses, so an event planner has to be observant about the requirements that raises and cater to them without delay. Not keeping a track of what is going on, is one of the most common mistakes event planners commit.

Failing to think locally

No two events would be similar. A wedding event in Bangalore would be different than a wedding in Delhi. Every city and clients involved are different and have unique expectations. Event planners does the mistake of not trying to understand the cultural differences and come up with appropriate approaches and plans to execute an event. Understanding the trends of a place is important, to successfully run an event.

Mis-communication with the client

Another critical mistake event planners does is failing to communicate clearly with the clients properly. An event cannot be successful if the client’s requirements are not understood and met. As an event planner, you should meet up with the clients to discuss and understand their requirements clearly.

Not thanking after an event

Once an event is over, event planners don’t even take the time of saying a simple ‘Thank You’ to the client. This is a blunder, because when you don’t take leave from your client on a good note, you will lose potential leads which you could have got through him. Remember, businesses mostly grow on references and networking so whether you are an individual event planner or a company, always build good relationships with clients.

Not learning from past mistakes

We all make mistakes, that’s given. But sometimes, event planners make mistakes and never learn from it. This creates a vicious circle of committing the same mistakes over again. Making a note of your mistakes and working on it, is the sure way to perfectly plan your future events.
