1. AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences)
The AIIMS-MBBS entrance exam is one of the most prestigious medical entrance exams in India. It is conducted by AIIMS (a medical institute of national importance) every year to take students in MBBS course. The degrees and diplomas awarded by AIIMS are considered as a quality medical education in India and are recognized by the IMC (Indian Medical Council).
AIIMS entrance test is considered as one of toughest exams to crack. Every year lakhs of students compete for a very limited number of AIIMS medical seats. The score is also accepted by other medical institutes to take admission in medical courses. AIIMS-MBBS 2016 entrance exam will be conducted on 29th May (Sunday), 2016.
AIIMS-MBBS Eligibility Criteria:
Age – Candidates should have attained 17 years of age
Qualification – Should have completed the 12th Standard exam with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Scores – General & OBC candidates – 60%; SC/ST/OPH candidates – 50%
2. All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT)
The AIPMT is conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), Delhi for admission to BDS and MBBS programs in various medical colleges in India. AIPMT is one of the most popular medical entrance exams in India. It is generally conducted on the first Sunday of May. This year the exam will be conducted on 3rd May, 2016. In 2015, a total of 3,74,386 candidates had appeared for the exam. AIPMT tests a candidate’s suitability to pursue medical program and contribute to the health sector in India.
In 2015, 9 states and 4 institutes participated in AIPMT for filling their dental and MBBS seats. 15% of the seats are allocated for SC students, 8% for ST and 27% for non-creamy layer OBC candidates.
AIPMT Eligibility Criteria:
Age – Should be between 17 – 25 years
Qualification – Should have completed their 12th Standard
Score – Must score a minimum of 50% in PCB/Bio-technology for General candidates and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates
3. CMC Vellore Common Entrance Test
The Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore hosts a medical entrance exam every year to take students in MBBS course. CMC Vellore is one of the top medical colleges in India. Every year lakhs of candidates sit for CMC entrance test, to get a medical seat in the reputed college. Out of the 100 CMC Vellore medical seats, a total of 42 seats are reserved for female candidates. Candidates need to go through Stage I – CMC entrance test and in Stage II – an Admission Test and Interview. The CMC Vellore 2016 exam will be conducted on 21st May, 2016.
CMC Vellore Eligibility Criteria:
Age – 17 years
Qualification – Must have passed 10+2 exam with PCB
Score – At least 60% in 12th Standard in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology taken together) and have an aggregate of 140/200 in these subjects, both at qualifying and competitive exams and should have passed in English.
4. MHT-CET or Common Entrance Test
The MHT-CET or Common Entrance Test is a medical entrance test to select students for various Health Sciences (MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BUMS, BASLP, BP&O and B Sc & AH) and Technical Education (Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy and Pharm.D.) for academic year 2016-2017. The entrance test will be conducted on 5th May (Thursday), 2016. In 2015, a total of 1,89,131 students appeared for the MHT-CET exam across 507 centres in Maharashtra.
Age – Should be born on or before 31/12/1999
Qualification – Should have passed 12th Standard with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
Score – General – 50% and reserved categories should score 40% minimum
5. GUJCET
GUJCET is a state level medical entrance exam conducted by the Education Department, under Govt. of Gujarat. The test is conducted to select aspiring medical students to get into medical programs including MBBS, BDS, Ayurved, Nursing and more, in various private and government medical institutes.
Age – 17 – 25 years
Qualification – Should pass the 10+2 Standard in the Science stream
