BITSAT is one of the prestigious entrance exams in India. It is conducted by BITS Pilani and every year lacs of students compete for limited number of engineering, pharmacy and technology seats by writing the BITSAT exam. Here are few tips on how to boost your BITSAT preparation:
1) Conceptual clarity
While preparing for BITSAT exam, students should have proper conceptual clarity. 70 – 80% of the questions asked in BITSAT are problem or equation based, without having conceptual clarity it will be impossible to solve different kinds of mathematical problems or chemistry equations. The exam is months away and this is the right time to brush up what you read in Class XI and Class XII or catch up with concepts you missed out. Having a good grasp of the important concepts in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English and Logical Reasoning, is crucial to secure a better score in BITSAT.
2) Know the important topics
All the topics listed in the BITSAT Syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English and Logical Reasoning are not of equal importance. So make it a point to understand all the important topics such as Physics – Electricity & Magnetism, Mechanics, Optics, Modern Physics; Chemistry – Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry; Mathematics – Circles, Application of Derivatives, Sequence & Series, Permutations & Combinations, Theory of Equation; Biology – Genetics and Evolution, Ecology & Environment, Biotechnology and its Applications; English – Sentence Completion, Synonyms & Antonyms, One Word Substitution, Comprehension; Logical Reasoning – Analogy Test, Logical Deduction, Numbers & Alphabetical Series Test, Figure Formation & Analysis and Verbal Reasoning.
3) Hire the right trainer or coaching institute
A good trainer or coaching institute can make a lot of difference to your overall BITSAT score. Hiring the right BITSAT trainer or joining the coaching institute, will help you focus and prepare in the right direction. Coaching will help you understand important topics, solve important questions, and know tricks to tackle the questions.
4) Choose the right study materials
From choosing the right BITSAT books to coaching materials, you should pay importance to picking the right study materials. Having good reference books and quality study materials would help you prepare for BITSAT, enabling you to score more.
5) Time management
Efficient time management is one of the most important factors that would help crack the BITSAT exam with a better score. Students who are aiming to score above 320 needs to learn how to manage time efficiently and solve all questions within a set time. Practicing mock tests every day would be extremely helpful to manage your time in real exam. Plus, always learn to solve easy questions first since all questions are of equal marks. This way you will cover all questions you are sure about in the first hour of taking the test.
6) Practice previous question papers
Get yourself familiar with previous BITSAT question patterns. Practice at least 7-8 years of previous sample question papers, to get better understanding of question asked and important topics. When you get a hold of the BITSAT question patterns, you are more likely to score better in BITSAT exam.
7) Don’t ignore negative marking
Like many other major competitive or entrance exams, BITSAT also comes with negative marking for each wrong answer. Unlike in JEE exam, -1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Always consider all the answer options, before finalizing on the correct answer. Even though, the negative marking is low still it cannot be ignored.
