Here is an excerpt of the interview with Ajay:

Q1. Share with us your journey as an MS Excel Trainer? When and how did it started?

Ans. I had given my 8 yrs to MIS Analytics field and while I was having my first job as MIS Analyst. I faced huge challenges from my team mates in terms of having my escalations in showing wrong numbers or sometime being offended for my lack of knowledge in Excel and VBA. I was so dependent upon my seniors for my automation work and whenever I used to get stuck, I used to reach out to them for understanding the things but they always used to discourage me and made me cry that I do not know anything and the salary I earn, the position I acquire in the company is because of their work and their hard work. Well, I was lucky that somehow my manager knew it that it was a deliberate attempt from these guys to show me as a poor performer and I was allowed to stay on my job. I was good in analysis and building logics but unfortunately did not know excel, VBA so well which are the backbone of any industry when it come to do analysis.

One fine day. An IJP came in the company and it was for my next level – Team Leader in MIS Analytics and I did not want to lose it. I had given my excel test and failed. Test was unbelievably tough, even my seniors admitted that. Fortunately, no one cleared the test and it was decided that it would happen again. My salary was not enough so I took a laptop from one of my good friend for a month. I started learning excel using YouTube and Google. I spent day and night. I remember there was some fire, some anger at the back of my mind, a promise to myself that I would show my worth. I had given day and night and learnt so much about excel. Being in the MIS Department, the good part was that I could utilize my learning on my projects and judge my performance. I used to leave office late and used to analyze already pre-built dashboards, formulas and that gave me good push to learn more and made me confident. While in an attempt of proving my worth, I fell in love with excel and thought that one day I would launch my own YouTube channel and help all needy professionals with no attitude and always would adopt helping attitude so that no one should went through so much humiliation as I went in my job because of my seniors.

After 5 years from that day, today I have a website, YouTube channel and I am teaching. Now I feel Sky is the limit and many more miles to achieve and this is just the beginning. Story is not finished yet. When I re-appeared for the excel test, I cleared with more than eight percent marks and when I shared with my team, I was given a respond that I must had cheated and cleared the test. Everybody was laughing but they congratulated me for the new level. I did not react but that day is still in my mind when I decided that point in time that one day these people will know me from my excel work. I promised myself and then story begun. In my new project, I automated everything and became the star. Across India, wherever our company branch was present, people started knowing me for Excel and VBA. I started helping them in automating their work. This is how I fall in love with excel and then my job eventually landed me to the teaching profession.

Initially, I started assisting some institutes but later through UrbanPro I had my own students. My passion and love for excel made me little popular among my students and gradually, business expanded. Last year only, I started my YouTube channel where all of you can watch more than 200 free videos on excel, excel VBA, access and access VBA. My website is Excel VBA Lover which was developed entirely by me. If you know your job, then nothing like it. Love your work and do it passionately. World will fall on your feet if you have a dedication and honesty. I still enjoy each session with my new students and can spend all day talking about excel. Just wondering, why I still I did not have Bill Gates picture in my home. I can go on and on and it will always be less for me to speak on my favorite topic, Excel.

Thank you for choosing me and once again giving me the trust that true work and passion always pays off.
