Handwriting Analysis, also known as Graphology is a highly specialized technique. It is built on scientific method of conclusions drawn on common sense, universal concepts, psychological interpretations and empirical research. Hence, when properly done, it gives a fair degree of accuracy as compared to several other mystical streams. Besides, it is much simpler and inexpensive as compared to psychological or psychometric tests.
Handwriting is called ‘brain writing’, which gives graphic manifestation of a person’s thought patterns, behavior and a glimpse into subconscious mind. Since it comes from the subconscious, it can reveal many personality traits in their true forms, which a person may not consciously know. It can explore the inner personality which could have rich deposits of hidden talents which can be effectively utilized, once known. Similarly shortcomings can be known to improve upon.

As per the job requirement, desired personality profile can be drawn and by comparing it with the help of handwriting analysis of the candidates, suitability can be ascertained. Also candidates having undesirable traits can be eliminated, which is helpful in short listing at initial stage and saving resources for interviewing large number of candidates.

Employees can be placed as per their aptitude as revealed from their handwriting. It helps in getting maximum efficiency from him. Apart from this compatibility can be found out to enable grouping them to work as a team.
c) Personal development
From handwriting positive and negative traits can be found out. Positive traits can be utilized effectively and further developed. The negative traits can be overcome by conscious efforts or giving graphotherapy. It can also help in improving Emotional Quotient (EQ). All this can in turn contribute towards increase in productivity.
2. Psychology
Graphology can throw light on psychological aspects of a person by revealing his emotional state including depression, frustration, guilt, trauma, temper etc. Though there are quite a number of sophisticated techniques in psychology, but still graphology can be helpful as rather an inexpensive additional tool. Graphology can identify hidden problem areas, which can serve for correlating or supporting the findings from other tests. Apart from this, being an additional test it can help in convincing a person about his ailment.
3. Understanding self – One can know the strengths and weaknesses, which can help in taking wiser decisions for personal and professional life. It can help in improving self and Emotional Quotient (EQ).
4. Graphotherapy – One can change the personality traits by making changes in handwriting. After careful analysis of handwriting graphotherapy can be prescribed by an experienced graphologist having a psychology background.
5. Choosing the right job – job aptitude such as creative ability, aptitude for details, sales talent, leadership qualities etc can be found out. Knowing strengths, weaknesses, aptitudes and hidden talents proper career can be selected. One can decide about what type of work is best suited and what kind of employment should be avoided.
6. In Business: Graphology can be used for finding compatibility in business partners, ensuring honesty and ethical dealings from persons.
7. Marriage – It can help in better understanding of each other and also to find out compatibility in matrimonial proposals.
8. Police & Bankers – Finding out tendency of lying, dishonesty, forgery, criminal mentality, etc.
9. For Teachers – For detecting shy, emotionally disturbed or slow learner child.
Though graphology finds its application in many fields, but it is still in infant stage in our country and hence there is good potential for its application in corporate sector, which is still untapped. Learning this technique is also useful for individuals working in HR and for those in the field of psychology. It is also ideal as a supplementary profession or hobby. If one likes this technique and spends some time on it then it serves as a break from monotonous activities of main profession. Mind is engaged in something you like, which gives it a relaxing effect.
Regarding courses in Graphology, in India there is no government or university recognition for any of the institutes or courses. Worldwide there are many courses, but they charge heavily. However they ensure competence by properly training and testing the students and hence have standing in the world. Some of the Institutes in India are having misleading names, but have no standing in the world since they award certificates to everyone who pays the fees. Hence one has to do some homework to find out a good coach / institute.
