How To Learn Spoken English At Home
· Enroll for online class
Many teachers teach online. You can enrol yourself in those courses and get the training accordingly. Nowadays, with the easy availability of the internet, it has become an easy affair. If you have any doubts, you can quickly get the answers online.
· Improve communication skills
For beginners, it is better to relate to a situation and ask a question. Suppose you are at home and you have the option to have tea or coffee. So what you need to do here is ask yourself a question. ‘Do I like tea or coffee?’ Similarly, when you are in a textile shop, you need to ask,’ Do I like sari or jeans?’ This is how you can ask yourself and find out the right answer. While having a conversation with yourself, it develops your communication skills. However, to achieve success, you need to practice it several times. Only then this trick would work.
· Understand Basic English Grammar
To speak fluently, knowing Basic English Grammar is very important. Most people fail to understand where to use ‘is,’ ‘are,’ ‘on,’ ‘of,’ etc. Many students do not know where to use ‘are’ or ‘is.’ Once they get a grip on where to use these words, they can speak English properly. For someone who is trying this method should start with speaking simple sentences.
· Enrich Your Vocabulary
One of the best ways to enrich your vocabulary is by going through the daily newspapers. Find out the English words and then use those words to frame sentences. For a better result, you need to practice this daily.
· Practice Conversation at home
Suppose you are a salesperson or an employer in an office, you need to speak to the clients. So the conversation is an excellent way to improve your English speaking skills.
· Improve Writing skills
Writing proper English is also very important. Employers who need to write emails to their clients in America, Europe, etc need to know right English. So, in such a scenario, you can start by writing various types of letters. Gradually once you understand the style and formation, you can quickly draft an email.
So now, we will be discussing those above-mentioned points elaborately:
Preposition
Preposition of time
Here are a few sentences to help us understand the Preposition. Think of the appropriate word you can fill in the blanks.
-
We get up____morning ( at, in, on)
-
We go to bed _______night. ( at, in, on)
-
We go to the temple_____Friday. ( at, in, on)
· In the first sentence, you can see there are three options: at, in, on. Here we have to use ‘in’ because whenever you see morning, afternoon, evening, we use ‘in.’
· In the second sentence, the options are at, in, on. In a situation like this, we always use ‘at.’ Whenever there is mention of noon, mid-day, or night, we must use ‘at.’
· The last sentence has three options: at, in, on. The correct answer would be ‘on.’ Whenever there is a mention of particular ‘days,’ we have to use ‘on.’
Preposition of while/during
· During+Noun.
Example – She kept texting during the meeting.
Here the ‘meeting’ is a noun. Before ‘meeting,’ we need to use ‘during.’
· While+Gerund
Example – I met Susan while learning French.
The verb ending with ‘ing’ is Gerund. You can use while in the middle or the start of a sentence as required.
· While+Noun+Verb
Example – Please do not interrupt while I am speaking.
In this sentence, next to ‘while,’ we have used a noun that is ‘I.’ Next to the noun, we have used the verb ‘speaking.’
Vocabulary
We would take words from newspapers and then construct sentences with those. However, the choice of vocabulary would be different according to the age group. It can generally be categorized into three types: the basic, the intermediate, and the advanced level.
· Very Tired-Exhausted (In place of ‘very tired,’ we can use ‘exhausted.’ It sounds more professional). The same applies to all the below examples.
· Very Stupid – Idiotic
· Very Tasty – Delicious
· Very Angry – Furious
