Common Entrance Test (CET) is established and conducted by the Government of Karnataka’s CET (Common Entrance Test ) Cell for determining merit students for taking admission in various programmes including Medical, Dental, Engineering/Architecture courses, Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy, B.Sc (Forestry), B.Sc (Horticulture), B.Sc (Agriculture), B.Tech (Agri.Engg), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.FSc (Fisheries), B-Pharma and more. Admission to these courses are open for Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants.
Admission to Government seats will be carried as per the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Government seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006. The CET Cell is an autonomous body registered under Societies Registration Act 1960 called ‘Karnataka Examinations Authority’ (KEA).
CET Eligibility Criteria:
Following are the students who are eligible for writing the CET exam:
- The candidate should have studied or passed in government or government recognized educational institutes in the state of Karnataka for at least 7 academic years commencing from 1st Standard to 12th Standard under Karnataka State.
- A candidate should pass either 11th or 12th Standard exam from a recognized educational institute within the state of Karnataka. And either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka for a period of 7 years.
- Candidate whose parent is a Retired employee in Central Armed Police Force Service, who at the time of joining the CAPF service had declared his/her hometown as Karnataka.
- A candidate who have studied 10 full academic years in Kannada medium from 1st Class – 10th Class. Such students doesn’t required to appear for Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA.
- Son or daughter of Members of Parliament elected from Karnataka. In addition, the candidate should have passed the Q.E. from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India.
- Candidate whose Mother Tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava should have resided and studied for a period of 7 years between 1st Standard to 12th Standard in disputed Kannada speaking area of South Sholapur or Akkalkot or Jath or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra or Kasargod or Hosadurga Taluks of Kerala state. Candidates from these areas should write a Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA.
